Travelling Victoria
Vol: 139 may 2011

IWelcome once again to another monthly bulletin.  We hope you enjoy and enter the competition and have a bit of fun.  Last month's competition was won by Melissa Tyack from South Barwon.  The rowing at the Melbourne Olympics was held on Lake Wendouree in Ballarat.  Melissa has won a $200.00 'gift voucher' for any canoeing adventure on the Lower Goulburn River.  There will be another opportunity for you to enter and win later in the newsletter.

Lake Eyre Update

"Spectacular, never imagined anything so massive"........"Amazing, best trip ever"......."Awesome.......Australia is so big......"        is just a few of comments regarding our special flight tours to Birdsville and Lake Eyre.  There is flood waters from north of Birdsville down the Simpson Desert to Lake Eyre north and south and onto Lake Torrens.  There is water from Western Queensland almost to the Southern Ocean, and to the east Lake Frome has water.  The Flinders Rangers are green and lush.  If you are thinking of doing the "Flight to Eyre" now might be a good time to book in and beat the price rise.  Aviation fuel in the outback has risen to over $3.00 a litre with little chance of it coming back.  We were hoping the price would drop and we will have to increase the price from June 1.  For more information and bookings contact Rob on 03. 5852 2736 or email rob@adventours.com.au

55-paddlers on Easter Sunday

River Country Adventours broke a record on Easter Sunday (April 24, 2011) when we had a total of 55 people paddling on the Goulburn River.  We had canoeing at Seymour, Nagambie, Wyuna and a group paddling towards Echuca as well as hire at Wakiti Creek resort.  Well done to all those concerned, we hope to see you all back pretty soon.  The Lower Goulburn River has finally dropped back to normal summer level and is ideal for canoeing now.  The long weekend in June has plenty of vacancies at the moment.  A good thing about canoeing and camping in the winter, no flies and you can light a good campfire at night.

Canoes for Sale

We have one brand new 'Sunseeker' fibreglass canoe left for sale as well as three (3) used canoes.  There is also a SH "River Rider" Canadian for sale, with paddles this is good value at $500.00;so if you are in the market for a good used canoe, now is a good time to get in touch with River Country Adventours.  Phone 5852 2736.

Competition

Here is you chance to win a $200.00 gift voucher for any canoeing adventure on the Lower Goulburn National Park.  All you have to do is correctly answer the question.  All correct entries will be acknowledged and then tossed into an old hat for the draw sometime later in the month.

The Goulburn River

Since the last newsletter, the Shepparton News came over to Wyuna and did a feature article for their "Weekend Edition" on our business and our involvement with the river.  We thought the article was very well written and if you would like a copy we will post it to you with one of our new 'tours brochure'.  All you have to do is ask.

Whales at Ceduna

With all the activity with the Flight to Eyre and canoeing we are still going to Ceduna to witness the massing of the Southern Right Whales at the Head of Bight near Ceduna in South Australia over the winter months.  These flight tours will start in Shepparton and fly to Mildura, Port Augusta and then onto Ceduna for two nights accommodation.  The next day is devoted to whale watching, from the world class viewing platforms.  On the third day we fly to Port Lincoln, directly over Adelaide and then onto Horsham before we head back to Shepparton.  On this great trip we see the Flinders Rangers and the Grampians.  For more information and enquiries please contact Rob at River Country Adventours.  Mobile 0428 585 227 or email.
