Travelling Victoria
Vol: 161 may 2013

Thanks once again for your support and kind comments that just keep coming in. We are very grateful and look forward to assisting with your future travel plans.

The lucky winner from last month’s competition is Betty Knight from Upper Pakenham. We had lots of entries naming three towns within the Shire of Loddon, a very interesting region and we have some spectacular photos of some of the attractions on our Face Book page. Go to and click on the Face Book Icon. Hope to see thousands of likes from all of you. In fact we are giving you the chance to become a friend of River Country Adventours and all friends will receive discount on your next booking for canoeing, camping and fishing.

There will be another chance to win the $200.00 gift voucher for any canoeing, camping and fishing along the Lower Goulburn River. This is a great time to be camping, no flies or mozzies and you can have a campfire at night. We have vacancies over the Queen’s Birthday W/E June 8-10.

Kanyapella Safari.

This is the ultimate in canoeing and perhaps River Country Adventours are the only operators in Australia offering this service. Firstly we need a minimum of 2-people. We look after your car as you slowly paddle downstream to your campsites over the 3-days. We go ahead and erect and completely set up your campsites including a portable industrial toilet. At the finish on the third day we get your vehicle to you and you can head for home. All you need to bring is your food and refreshments for the camps, bedding something to sleep on and under and a sense of adventure. The cost is $299.00 per person and is excellent value. Just this week a we had a father and his young son complete this fascinating section of river that supports an abundance of birdlife. For more information and bookings please contact us at River Country Adventours on phone 0428 585 227 or email to

Burke & Wills Tour.

The next flight tour from Shepparton to Innamincka and beyond with vacancies is June 1-2.The tour discovers the desperate plight of the early explorers Burke & Wills and party. The expedition in 1861 was sponsored by the Victorian Government as Melbourne were keen to get the new telegraph lines from Northern Australia to Victoria. The government wanted to find out what the unknown country was like and a direct route from Northern Australia to the South for the line. South Australia were also very eager to have the telegraph and finally won as their explorers didn’t perish in the harsh Australian outback.

Here is your chance to win that canoeing holiday. All you have to do is correctly answer the question and await the draw sometime in early June. All correct entries will be acknowledged, so have a go your luck may be in today.
