Travelling Victoria
Vol: 169 christmas 2013

Welcome to this our Christmas edition of the newsletter. Firstly, we want to correct the birth place of the famous racehorse Black Caviar. She was born on the Gilgai Stud at Chinaman’s Bridge at Nagambie not the Swettenham stud that was incorrectly reported in our last newsletter. I think the less said about last month’s newsletter the better. We expect the highest quality at River Country Adventours. During the month a couple of environmental flows have been released down the Goulburn River. We have no problems with the higher water levels for canoeing and kayaking, but when the river drops back to normal level we have to contend with some river mud, until the warm sun dries out the banks. However, with carpet and our intimate knowledge of the river, most people will not be inconvenienced in any way.

The lucky winner of last month’s competition is Kristy Kelly from Craigieburn. Kristy knew that Peter Moody trained the champion mare Black Caviar to her 25-straight wins. Kristy has won a $200.00 gift voucher for any canoeing/camping adventure on the Lower Goulburn. There will be a further chance for you to win another gift voucher later in this bulletin.

Merry Christmas.

All of us here in River Country wish you and your loved ones a great Christmas. May peace, happiness and goodwill prevail and have some fun with your family. Christmas is a good time to relax and reflect on things that have happened during the year, and what you expect will happen in the new year. Christmas is and always has been a terrific time for kids. The best sound in the world is the laughter of children. The first Christmas that I can remember, I was seven, and Santa brought me a brand new 24” Malvern Star push bike. I was mobile, and I reckon that was the best present ever.

What was your best gift when you were a lot younger?

Competition.

Here is your chance to win a $200.00 gift voucher from River Country Adventours. Just correctly answer the question by email, all correct entries will be acknowledged then placed in the old hat for the draw sometime in the New Year. Have a go, this may be your lucky day.

Q. What is the longest river in Victoria?
a. The Yarra, b. The Glenelg or c. The Goulburn.

Camping in the Bush.

We have two products which are very popular. Firstly, there is the “Bridge to Bridge”. This is a 2-day camp with two canoeing safaris during your stay. You can even stay an extra night without any additional costs. In this product you bring all your own camping gear and erect the tents and set up the camp. We provide an industrial portable toilet, water for drinking and cooking and transport up the river for the safaris. The cost is $185.00 per person and is the go if you have all your gear.

Secondly, there is the Adventurous Getaway. Similar to the above but in this case we provide everything. All you to do is turn up and bring your own bedding, food and refreshments and a good sense of adventure. The cost is $245.00 per person and represents excellent value.

We are open for business and look forward to your bookings.

Thanks.

We at River Country Adventours are very grateful for all your support and friendships during the year. We will be back again next year, so please take care over the holiday period, and we look forward to hearing from you again very soon.
