Travelling Victoria
Vol: 200 december edition 2016

Firstly, Joan and I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe new year. It has been a particularly good year for us. The 12-flights to see Lake Eyre in flood was one of the highlights. In 20-years of conducting the Flight to Eyre tours, this was the first time we had seen so much water in the deserts surrounding the huge lake. The lake still has a covering of water and all rivers are still flush, including the Cooper which has finally made it’s way to the Lake. With the monsoonal rain still to come, we reckon next year will be another fantastic opportunity to see Lake Eyre in flood.

The lucky winner from the last newsletter is Bella Ross from Melbourne, Bella knew that Hop a long Cassidy’s horse was called “Topper”. Bella has won a $200.00 Gift Voucher for any any canoeing adventure on the Lower Goulburn River (near Echuca).

Kayaks for Sale.

We have a couple of used kayaks for sale. One is a 16-foot fibreglass in excellent condition valued at $250.00, worth a look as it comes with a rack for your vehicle when transporting. Then there is another kayak, the old style with wooden trimming in good condition, worth $550.00 with paddle. Then we have 2-brand new sit-on fishing kayaks to sell for $990.00 and $770.00 respectively, both come with paddles. All these can be inspected at our boat shed at 13 Mackie Street, Kyabram. Just phone 0428 585 227 to arrange.

Special Occasion.

Some time during the next few weeks we should have our 30,000th person doing some canoeing on the rivers. We started the canoeing business on Grand Final day 1996, that day North beat South for the flag, and we have been going ever since. The river has returned to normal after the recent minor flood, and is most beautiful, supporting a vast variety of water and forest birds. Every day we see eagles and quite often a shy platypus is spotted. I haven’t meet anyone yet who doesn’t like the bush, so book in for your next adventure. Another good thing about the Lower Goulburn, no jet skis or power boats. Just fishing boats and canoes, just the way we like it. For more canoeing inquiries contact Rob on 0428 585 227 or email rob@adventours.com.au
