Travelling Victoria
Vol: 183 march/april 2015

Another month and heaps of happy campers along the Lower Goulburn, which is flowing well at the moment, ideal for canoeing and kayaking, fishing and bird watching.  The Goulburn is the longest river in Victoria and we reckon the best canoeing is in the Lower sections around Wyuna and Yambuna.  No speed boats and the river is peaceful and tranquil with heaps of platypuses being seen along the section near Yambuna and up to seven wedge tailed eagles scaring the feathers off the cockatoos.  So if you are thinking about it, Come enjoy a gentle paddle down the beautiful river.  We also completed our 100th flight tour from Shepparton to Birdsville and Lake Eyre.
The lucky winner of the $200.00 gift voucher is Geraldine Christou who knew (like everyone else) that the Murray Valley Highway runs through Cohuna.  There will be another chance to win later in this newsletter.

Flight to Eyre.

Our 100th flight was on March 26-27 and was quite spectacular, very dry right across Australia.  At Birdsville on our dawn bird watching tour at the billabong, we counted 106 pelicans fly past.  This and with all the other birds feeding it is well worth the early start to connect with nature.  I should change my name to Rob Attenborough.  This is a marvellous way to see the arid regions of Australia from the comfort of the Piper Chieftain and the vastness of Lake Eyre.  The lake is over 150 km in length and over 80 km wide, truly worth having a look, it makes you feel small and humble. Other highlights of the tour is Mungo, Broken Hill, the Barrier Ranges, Flinders Ranges, Innamincka, The Dig Tree and Burke Tree, Birdsville, Simpson Desert, Wllpena Pound, Lake Eyre North & South, Mildura, the Darling and Murray Rivers.  Next scheduled tours with vacancies at the moment are-

Fishing Trips.

River Country Adventours have well organized fishing trips to great fishing places like Ceduna which is the King George Whiting capital of Australia.  We can fly your group (Min 6) from Shepparton to Ceduna and we use a local fishing charter to enjoy fishing in the Southern Ocean.  You can bring all your catch home in the plane.  Later in the year we will be going back to the Bight to see all the Southern Right Whales and their young.  So for more information and bookings on these great tours please contact us on M 0428 585 227.

Here is your chance to win a $200.00 gift voucher for any canoeing adventure on the Lower Goulburn.  Just correctly answer the poser and all correct entries will be acknowledged, and your name placed in an old hat for the draw sometime next month.
