Travelling Victoria
summer edition 2017

A lot has happened since our last newsletter, firstly Joan returned from Queensland and developed a severe bout of pneumonia, in fact she spend 10-weeks in hospitals which included 3-weeks in intensive care. She was very sick but now home again, thank goodness and slowly coming good. My advise to all is to have the flu vaccination each year. Thanks to all of you who expressed your love and concern to Joan, greatly appreciated.

The lucky winner from our last newsletter for the $200.00 gift voucher for any camping and canoeing adventure on the Lower Goulburn is Ruth Rigby from Melbourne. Ruth knew that Ceduna is further north than Newcastle. There will be another chance to win that elusive gift voucher later in this bulletin.

canoeing on the Goulburn

Absolutely perfect for camping and canoeing at the moment. Later in the month a slight rise will come down the river making it even better. The environmental flow will help stimulate native fish spawning and also give the banks a good drink to stimulate vegetation growth, which in turn helps keep the river clean. So if are thinking about a river adventure, don't hesitate to contact Rob at River Country Adventours for more information and bookings. Phone 0428 585 227 or email to

Next week we are conducting our first 4-day flight tour from Shepparton to Uluru. This tour has been developed for people like yourselves looking for a unique look at the Australian outback. Christmas break ups

River Country Adventours can help arrange your office Christmas party to celebrate another great year.  We can arrange winery tours in coach large or small, or have canoeing/kayaking.  A good region not all that far from Melbourne is Nagambie.  It has some really good wineries and a very serene river with hardly any current due to the nearby Goulburn Weir.  Plenty of history around Nagambie with the Whroo Forest nearby, scene of the great gold rush 1851-1870.  For more information and a fabulous deal contact us today.

Here is your chance to win that $200.00 gift voucher for any canoeing/camping adventure along the Lower Goulburn. This question will probably appeal to the older readers.

All you have to do is correctly answer the question, all correct entries will be acknowledged and tossed into an old hat for the draw later on.
Q.Which is longer a Chain or a Furlong?

Birds along the River

We have two pair of Wedge Tailed Eagles with young again this year.  Still hanging around the nest are last years young, so there are plenty eagles to be spotted while you paddle along.  Down near Yambuna Bridge there are a pair of Sea Eagles, not sure if they have chicks yet, but they are a magnificent sight.  In addition to this we have Night Herons, Egrets, Kingfishers, Hawks, Dollar Birds and many many more different species.  You are all invited to come up, do a spot of bird watching as you meander along the river.

seasons greetings

We may not have time for another newsletter before Christmas with all the canoeing and winery tours so we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and another safe and happy New Year. Thanks for all your support and friendships which have built up over good times. We look forward to serving you well into the future and thanks again for everything. If for some reason you don't want to receive these newsletters in the future, just let us know. Your details will never be passed on to anyone else.
