At River Country Adventours we charter two vastly different scenic flight tours that include day and overnight stops. One air tour showcases our beautiful Lake Eyre and its surrounding national park, while the other takes you out to Ceduna to see the magnificent whales.
2 Day Outback Flight to Lake Eyre
This tour will take you over and around Kati Thanda Lake Eyre, which is Australia’s largest lake. During this Spirit of the Outback tour you will learn all about this massive lake’s history and modern discovery.
You’ll also fly over the Lake Eyre National Park which covers over a million hectares of arid desert, including all of Lake Eyre North, and the adjoining Tirari Desert.
Our tours don’t just take place in the sky though. You will also get chances to explore a range of South Australia’s most precious rural towns and enjoy the local cuisine. This 2 day tour includes at least 3 meal stops each day, all in unique locations.
On the first day you’ll enjoy a relaxing cruise and then a picnic lunch at Innamincka. You’ll also get to visit Dig Tree, which is Australia’s most famous tree. Dinner that night will then be served with a spectacular sunset view in Birdsville.
The following morning you’ll experience the beauty of Lake Eyre National Park’s deserts and rivers on the way to Williams Creek Hotel for a delicious pub style lunch. Then finally you’ll conclude this once in a lifetime experience by exploring the breathtaking Flinders Ranges.
3 Day Flight to Ceduna Whales
This spectacular flying tour will take you out to Ceduna in South Australia and over the head of the Great Australian Bight to see the magnificent Southern Right Whales.
We pace this tour out over three days, so you’ll get plenty of time to explore and take in the amazing views. You’ll be fully escorted by accredited tour operators who will also share the history of the land as you take it all in.
On day one we’ll follow the mighty Murray River to Mildura and then out to Port Augusta. During this flight you’ll see the breathtaking Flinders Ranges to the north, then we’ll travel to Ceduna to settle in the hotel style accommodation for the night.
Day two is all about the whales after breakfast. We fly to Nullarbor and then drive out to the head of the Bight where the whales like to congregate with their young. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at the Yalata Resort before settling in for the night. This allows you plenty of time to view these gentle giants of the sea.
The final day will also bring more whales. After breakfast we follow the coast to Port Lincoln to see more of the beautiful creatures before lunch. This tour will then conclude with a spectacular flight over Adelaide where you’ll view the rugged Grampians, before arriving back in Shepparton.
